This is a short one. Maybe!
In the previous blog about my own daily used cross body bag, the one that has been receiving a beating for a few years, I discussed my thoughts about how it has been performing over the years. I had been thinking of upgrading the bag. The first upgrade was to add some small d-rings for attachment of lanyards to which I could securely attach keys and my torch. The second upgrade was to add a secure slot on the gusset for quick access items. The third upgrade was to line and stitch the front over flap closure strap and plate. The first and third upgrades are done and I am really, really happy with the results. Please see the photographs below.
It goes to show that it is possible to upgrade handmade leather goods even after they have been made. This upgrade was quite easy although somewhat awkward, because of the positioning.
The contents have always been secure and I have never lost anything even when the front flap has been left un-latched. However I wanted the convenience of simply pulling on a cord and removing the contents attached to the end of the cord without having to fish around for the other end of the cord. The level of convenience added was well worth the efforts. Furthermore I now have a loop that I can attach my car keys to so that I can easily access them while still attached to my bag and it means that the empty space inside the main pocket remains empty all the time.
There are a few extra photographs showing the cross body bag from all sides. I have moved the main pocket contents around a bit. My Moleskine diary is now in the rear pocket; my business card wallet is now in the front pocket and the main pocket is now half empty making space for things I pick up during the day. I love it!!!

Almost all of my daily carry items are inside the front pocket. Only my sketch book is in the main pocket.

Moleskine diary in the back pocket. The carry handle is still going strong. A great upgrade.

The front over flap strap and plate are now lined and stitched all round. The stitching is mainly decorative. Why not?

Lots of upgrades but subtle enough to not change the look.

A clearer view of the new d-rings.
Closer view.

With attached keys and lanyards.
